Hunan stems form two ancient Chinese words the first is Hu which means lake and the second is Nan which in English translates into south, these two words together are supposed to represent “south of lake Dongting” in English. The population of Hunan is close to sixty seven million and the capital city is Changsha which is also the largest city with a population of just over six million people.

The landscape of Hunan is very mountainous in the west and north regions and the terrain in the west is high while the terrain in the terrain the east is low. There are four distinct and completely different seasons in Hunan they include summer which is very long and extremely hot, then there is autumn with much rain and loads of sun light, next comes winter which is includes very little rain and it does not get very cold, in the spring it becomes very rainy and the thermometer climbs rapidly.

As for the economy in Hunan it is growing rapidly like most other areas in China, recently it has been growing by an average of almost fourteen point nine percent a year. The average GDP per capita for the people in Hunan is around three thousand dollars which is relatively high for most places in China but still very low compared to the rest of the world.

There is much cultural activity in Hunan especially in recent years. Recently Changsha has grown into a major center for television and entertaining arts kind of like the Chinese Hollywood or bolly wood. The new entertainment revolution has brought about some new changes including things such as singing bars, dance clubs, theater shows, as well as related businesses like hair salons and fashion stores. The city of Changsha is so popular that many people will fly in from all over China just to stay for the weekend and soon fly back home. Hunan and the city of Changsha have become one of the largest tourist attractions in all of China; the well interconnected transportation also helps with the movement and flow of tourists.
